Streptomycin Therapy in Tuberculosis

The following is a report on the effect of streptomycin in twenty-one suitable cases of tuberculosis treated in the Hardinge Hospital (Dharampore and Arcadia Dharampore) during the year 1948. Clinical material.?All patients in this series had pulmonary tuberculosis which, prior to streptomycin therapy, had not responded to bedrest or other accepted forms, of treatment. There was roentgenographic evidence of recent progression in their pulmonary lesions and the sputum was positive in all. Age and sex.?Thirteen patients were male and eight female. One patient was five years old, one was forty-seven years old, and the rest were between the ages of 15 and 35 years. Extent of the disease.?This is tabulated below.
